By visiting the caves of Sare, you will be able to discover the evolution of the life of the man during the prehistory. You will be able to learn about the atypical geology of the caves, the habitat, origins and mythology of the Basque people, based on the interpretations of the famous anthropologist José Miguel Barandiaran. The visit will be made over a period of one hour, in sounds and lights. You will plunge into the bowels of the earth to listen to the sounds of nature and at the same time, discover the fascinating underground universe.
Opening hours of the site
From 15 February to 11 April, you can visit the caves of Sare every day, from 2 pm to 5 pm; The weekend is from 1 pm to 5 pm. From 12 April to 31 July, the site is open all week from 10 am to 7 pm. If you come between the end of August and the end of September, it is open every day from 10 am to 6 pm. From October 1st until the end of the holidays of All Saints’ Day, you will visit the caves of Sare between 10 am and 5 pm, working days and weekends. From the end of the holidays and throughout the month of December, until January 4, the site is open from Monday to Friday from 2 pm to 5 pm and weekends from 1 pm to 5 pm. The site is closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
